Your Happiness is Within—Know Yourself Through Meditation
I am Kumari Dixon, a 41-year-old homemaker living in Mumbai. I grew up in a lower-middle-class Hindu family in Thane, Maharashtra. My mother was strict, and my father was lovable. Although our financial status was not strong, my parents were able to fulfill all our basic needs. I stood first in my school, for which I was well-appreciated by everyone. I got admitted to a good college, and life was feeling blissful.
I knew Dixon from my school days but got introduced to him while in college. He was very much interested in me but struggled to convince his parents to accept me, as he is a Christian and I am a Hindu. Eventually, his family agreed, and we got married in a Church. Since my husband was working in the Indian Navy, I lived with my In-laws. Staying with them was a personal struggle because they forced me to do all household work without rest, which made me feel tired even during my pregnancy. Although I was not reacting to their behavior, the situation started getting worse. My health deteriorated. Even after my husband retired from the Indian Navy, the situation did not improve for me, since he could not raise his voice against his parents.
I somehow convinced my husband to start living separately. But then my husband gave all his retirement money to his parents without informing me, and this caused many fights between us. I started blaming myself, my husband, and God for making my life so bad. My elder brother, who was aware of the situation, used to advise me to forget the past, but I was unable to. I could not accept the situation and I felt cheated.
One day my elder brother asked me to attend a JTTL 13 (Journey Towards True Path) meditation session. In June 2020 I started attending the sessions conducted by Master Deepthi Nadella. I immediately felt connected to her and watched all her videos on YouTube. For 21 days, every morning I attended a one-hour-long meditation session, followed by a one-hour-long wisdom session and Q&A.
Everything started changing slowly. The program made me feel peaceful, calm, and lovable. A sense of gratitude grew in me. I also started reading wisdom books by Masters, such as “You Can Heal Your Life” by Louise Hay, “Mind to Matter” by Dawson Church, “Thousand Seeds of Joy” by Anada Karunesh, and many more.
I had been searching for answers to my life situations, and I was now receiving those answers. I used to ask myself, “Why do people behave wrongly toward you, despite you being good to them?” After my guided meditations with many Masters, I started getting rid of my anger, fear, and insecurity. I was ready to forgive my in-laws and my husband. I became more aware of everything, letting go of my past, and starting to accept people as they are.
During meditation I made positive affirmations, sending out love for my family and my in-laws. I started seeing love in all, in my kids, in my husband, my in-laws, in the plants, animals, in everything. My kids started meditating along. I started noticing a change in my mother-in-law. She started being nice to me. The issues started dissolving between me and my husband. We developed more love and trust between us. I understood that we are the creators of our own life. My life became a wonderful heaven after coming into meditation.
Meditation brought a lot of changes in my life. Therefore, I started teaching meditation to all my friends and relatives, so that they, too, can reap its benefits and be happier in their lives.
Through meditation, I realized that we search for happiness outside of us—in the people, things, and relationships. If others do not meet our expectations, or if we do not get what we want, we start blaming them or blaming our existence. But meditation helps you to find your inner peace. Meditation keeps your mind in a positive state. Meditation is the best way to know yourself. Meditation is the only solution to all life problems – mental, physical, and spiritual. Meditation is as vast as an ocean; I feel I have just reached the beach, and yet I am enjoying my life as never before. I still want to go deeper into it.
