Meditation Helped Me Feel Complete — The Story of Parth Sharma

Despite being young, having a good job, and living in a good city, Parth Sharma felt a void within. It was only through meditation that he finally found peace, happiness, better relationships, clarity, and freedom from stress.

I am Parth Sharma from Bangalore. After graduating from a good college in India, I joined a reputed organization that offered me a satisfactory pay package, and yet I felt a certain sense of incompleteness within myself. The money was good, I was living in a pretty good city and had great colleagues at work, but something was missing. I was not happy. There was this sort of void even after having almost all the things that make one’s life complete in the modern world.

I wanted to calm my mind and be peaceful and harmonious with myself. After some soul searching, I discovered through my friend a heart-based method of meditation which was quite simple to follow. Although it looked great, there were some doubts and inhibitions in my mind. I was not so sure of its effectiveness. My friend asked me to start it and see the result for myself. Now, being born in a modern scientific society, it was difficult for me to accept anything without concrete results. Anyhow, with my suspicious mind, I started the method, trying to give it approximately 20–30 minutes every day.

At first, I was unable to meditate properly. Thoughts were haunting me persistently throughout that period. But slowly and progressively, things started to change. I began to experience calmness and peace of mind during and after the meditation. I enjoyed the time of meditation and started gradually increasing its duration up to one hour. I felt connected to myself.

The practice greatly benefited me to be happier, peaceful, tolerant, and loving towards others. I became very clear in my thoughts and actions, which made me better at work and in my social life. It helped me with stress management as well as time management. And the best part was that I started getting up early in the morning, just to experience the meditational effects in the early hours of the day, which were phenomenal. And then I started researching the scientific aspects and benefits of meditation and found tons of data that supported the positive effects of meditation on one’s life.

What I felt while I was trying to integrate this meditation practice into my daily life was that we have to do it to experience it. We cannot understand the benefits just by reading or by hearing about it. It takes some time to see the changes in ourselves. The results are experience-based rather than knowledge-based, and having a master/trainer greatly benefits in the process.
